The Best Workout Songs To Get You Through BBG!

Music makes such a big difference to my workout — I personally can’t do my workout without having music playing!

Whether I’m training on my own, training clients or working out with my sister, music makes the workout feel more exciting. I always feel much more engaged when there is good music playing! Workout songs with a good beat help me keep going, even if I’m not feeling particularly motivated that day.

If you need some help in selecting music, I’ve got some suggestions for the best workout songs to get you through my High Intensity with Kayla Itsines (formerly BBG) workouts.

Why you need a good workout playlist

There is so much research on the benefits of listening to music, especially when it comes to improving your workout. Music can be a bit of a ‘distraction’ from fatigue that creeps in when you’re doing a workout, so you might be less likely to give up and take a break when you could really keep going. That’s why lots of people have a better training session when music is playing.

So if you want to make every workout a good one, I highly recommend having a playlist ready to go. You might not know this but the Sweat app actually integrates with Apple Music and Spotify, so you can have it playing while you train with me!

Warm-up playlist

To hit the ground running, you need a good warm-up. This means not only doing the best warm-up exercises but also setting your playlist to prepare you mentally.

A good warm-up playlist should gradually pick up the pace. I like to choose songs with a slightly slower tempo to begin with and then begin playing songs that are a bit quicker once my body begins to feel warm.

High-intensity workout playlists

When choosing songs for a high-intensity workout, I always pick something with a fast tempo! You’re about to pick up the pace with your training, so you want music to match.

Having a fast beat also makes it easier for you to keep time and be consistent throughout the workout.

My workout music playlist

I am always adding more music to my gym playlists. Listening to the same songs over and over again means they can lose a bit of their "power", so to speak — after a while, you might find they don’t have the same impact or motivation that they once did. Plus, there are always new songs available to get you going and that's why I love adding a variety of different songs to my playlists.

If you’ve seen my playlists on Apple Music or Spotify, you’ve probably noticed that I have a lot of remixes added. It’s great when you can play a sped-up version of a song you love — remixes make some of the best workout songs!

When I’m training clients or when I’m doing one of my High Intensity Strength with Kayla Itsines resistance workouts I usually go straight to the "Sweat Intense" playlist on Spotify, this is the playlist I am always adding my new favourite songs to!

Create the best workout playlist!

The most important thing about a workout playlist is that it motivates YOU. So if you aren’t a big fan of some of the music I listen to while I train, create a playlist filled with songs that get you going!

One of the great things about Apple Music and Spotify is that there are a bunch of workout playlists covering so many different genres of music. Find one you love and use those tunes to help you get through your workout.
